Self Portrait, 2024

acrylic paint on paper, linoleum block, 9’’x11’’

Self perception is deceptive as we spend every minute with ourselves critiquing our movements and witnessing every embarrassing moment. This piece reflects on my personal wrestling with this thought. Contrasting the way that I view myself and what might appear to others. Depicting the way that I physically appear to the way I feel. This comparison is interesting because neither perspective is accurate and I likely will never fully be able to accurately depict myself, but in this piece I was able to better navigate the middle ground.
